So today was my first day to purchase $100 of bitcoin using shakepay. My intention is to buy $100 worth of bitcoin every month (I’m 19yr old so a bit tight on budget) for the next 20 years. I am also not willing to trade bitcoin, will just hold onto then pretty much forever. Do you guys recommened buying a hardware wallet? Or what kind of wallet should I store my bitcoin? I know I’m not supposed to store my bitcoin in the shakepay app, but I’m pretty lost here..

My (19F) boyfriend (24M) paid 500 dollars worth of bitcoin over a spam email about his masturbation

We've been together about a year, sometimes things have happened that make me wonder about his common sense. This is the most recent.
This message was already filtered into his spam folder but he went and responded anyway. The message was extremely badly written, but basically said they'd hacked his camera and recorded him masturbating. It claimed to have accessed all his contacts and threatened to send the videos to everyone if he didn't pay them $500 in bitcoin. It also said the exact porn material he was using would be included too. There was instructions of how to buy the bitcoins. So my boyfriend freaked out, he showed me the email panicking, I told him it's a scam ignore it. He admitted he had been watching porn and jacking off last night so it must be real, because "how else could they have known".
He actually sent the money to the address given..... I cannot believe this. It was so obviously a scam! They know lots of people jerk off to porn so they just spam that message out as a bluff to thousands of addresses knowing someone will take it personally, they have nothing over you unless you CHOOSE to respond! I explained this to him, and then he still went and fell for it!
He's angry at me for being in disbelief because "he didn't want to take the chance". So he...spent hours figuring out bitcoin exchange and forked over hundreds of dollars to who knows what for no reason? Wtf.
I just need help processing this... not trying to be mean but it's honestly so stupid to me. I feel like I've lost some respect for him because who does that? He's not an 80 year old who never learned how email works.
I feel like this lack of basic common sense is becoming more of a problem. Not sure if it's actually getting worse or I'm just less tolerant of it. But sometimes he does or says things where I just wanna be like, hello, are you okay? He treats credit cards like they're free money. He has some really bizarre beliefs, but he saw it in a youtube video so it must be true. Shit like that.
Is there a way I can get through to him that I'm not thinking of? I just feel like something is off with how he thinks but it's really hard to describe. If anyone gets what I'm talking about, or has dealt with someone like that yourself, what do you think I should do? Cut my losses or can it ever get better?
TL;DR: I explained to my boyfriend that an email in his spam folder was fake/a scam and he had nothing to worry about. Instead of ignoring it he gave them the money they wanted. I'm dumbfounded.

My Referral link for the free £10:
UPDATE 28.10.20:
Here is a copy of the email I have just received from InstaCoin. I can verify that the mempool is super busy at the moment:

We have received a number of support tickets regarding the delay in BTC confirmations. Rather than reply to everyone individually we would like to address this issue as a whole and give a quick explanation to all our users about why this is occuring:
Sometimes, for a variety of reasons, there will be a spike in the number of BTC transactions that are waiting to be confirmed. That will cause a delay in confirmation times, and increases the price of fees required for a transaction to be included in a block. You can see the current number of unconfirmed transactions here:
Transaction fees directly influence how long you will have to wait for transactions to confirm. At InstaCoin, we broadcast all our transactions with a Regular fee. This fee is covered on our side. It is usually around 0.0001 BTC or £1. Up until the last few days, there has never been an issue with confirmation times.
With a high priority fee, it is likely that transactions will get confirmed quicker by miners. Currently, we are looking at a 0.001BTC/£10 fee to push through transactions at a normal rate. As you can imagine, this is not an expense InstaCoin can cover and we also believe our users would not want to pay this fee either.
We believe the best solution is the one we are currently employing. The delays are frustrating and we feel that frustration too but the current mempool (waiting room) is unprecedented and we will return back to normal ways soon.
The important takeaway we want our users to have from this is that, from our side, the BTC is sent out instantly to your wallet and usually this would get confirmed in a short space of time. At this moment things are taking a bit longer, but the end-point is that you will 100% receive this BTC eventually.

Also remember to complete your sign up and deposist before the end of the month to be certain of getting the free £10 in Bitcoin.

I saw some projections that BTC will be at 20,000 by the end of the year and 400,000 by 2030. Did I still get in at a good time even though it’s up right now? Wish I got in in March :/

Free £10 from Luno (almost instantly!) for buying £100 worth of bitcoin

Luno is a platform that's been around since 2013, allowing you to buy and sell bitcoin. They're offering £10 in Bitcoin when you purchase £100 worth of BTC (for the EU the offer is €15 for a €250 purchase).
  1. Sign up with my referral link and verify your identity (non-ref, no bonus).
  2. Enter code WK7D5T in the "Rewards" page of the Luno webpage or app. If it says something like "this promotion can only be used once," it means the referral code has already been applied during sign-up, so you can move on to the next step.
  3. Buy £100 in Bitcoin (EU users - €250). You can deposit via bank transfer or card. (Note: buying BTC in the Luno Exchange won't count).
  4. The £10/€15 will be credited to your account within a few minutes - and you can then sell & withdraw it back to your bank right away. You could also send it to another crypto wallet or exchange if you prefer, but you'll need to enable this feature first (go to profile - security - enable "send cryptocurrency." Sending will be enabled 24 hours later.)
  5. Tip: sell the BTC at the Luno Exchange for lower fees.
GBP withdrawals are free, SEPA (Euro) bank transfers cost €0.30.
